Imagine going to jail over a tweet. DA Alvin Bragg wants to hurt President Trump as much as possible, and make him feel it. Today, Bragg filed a motion to hold Trump in contempt, accusing him of violating a gag order. Bragg wants to prevent Trump from speaking about the trial and doing so could land President Trump in jail.
The process is the punishment.

But now, Alvin Bragg is putting a president on trial for completely novel charges: Trump is accused, in state court, of covering up a federal crime that he has never even been charged with. This is unprecedented, and transparently politically motivated. This case would never be brought against anyone except Trump.

Can anyone explain to me why Judge Merchan is exempting himself from the law? As a lawyer I have serious questions about the impact this is going to have on faith in our justice system. When is the bar or judiciary going to do something about what appears to be a flagrant violation of his DUTY to recuse under 28 USC 455 parts (a) and potentially (b)5iii. This law makes it MANDATORY that a judge “disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality MIGHT reasonably be questioned.”
The legal standard in this law is objective and the standard is whether Judge Merchan’s impartiality “MIGHT reasonably be questioned.” If so he has NO choice under the plain language of the law but to disqualify himself on the case. Why can Judge Merchan ignore 28 USC 455 ? Why are judges like this ignoring the clear appearance of bias? What impact is this appearance of bias having on faith in the legal system? Why is it that @SidneyPowell1 and many other patriot lawyers get crucified by judges for “ethics violations” that are a huge stretch but this guy can have half the country questioning his impartiality and face ZERO repercussions?
