This New York Times headline is false, as the editors know by reading the second paragraph of the piece.
This Democrat-appointed Colorado judge–who is widely viewed as a poor judge in the Colorado legal community–didn’t sentence former Mesa County clerk Tina Peters to prison for 9 years for “tampering with voting machines.”
Judge Matthew Barrett told “her he had imposed the severe penalty because she had repeatedly advanced false claims about Mr. Trump’s defeat and in so doing become a celebrity among those who denied that he lost the race.”
In other words, Judge Barrett imposed his overly harsh sentence because he didn’t like her political viewpoint–not because of her criminal conduct.
Judge Barrett, who was dumb enough to say this publicly, violated the constitutional rights of Tina Peters.
