It only took about three hours….

It only took about three hours into Trump’s first day in office for the media to launch its first big hoax. Headlines are screaming that Elon Musk performed a Nazi salute at Trump’s rally yesterday. Politico, Rolling Stone, The Guardian—all the usual suspects—are running with it, and Democrats like AOC are amplifying the claim. But let’s look at the actual context to see how ridiculous this is.

In the video, Musk gestures as he says, “My heart goes out to you.” That’s it. The media is cutting the clip right before he speaks to make it seem sinister. Anyone familiar with Musk’s speaking style knows he uses big, animated gestures—that’s just how he communicates. The idea that he intentionally gave a Nazi salute is absurd. Even addressing this feels silly because no rational person would believe it. What motive would one of the most successful people on the planet have to do something so self-destructive and idiotic? It makes zero sense.

The reality is that this claim was never meant to convince anyone new. It’s just fodder for the media’s echo chamber of people who already hate Musk. The rest of us can see it for what it is—a desperate, manufactured controversy. Sure, the gesture might look a little awkward, but if we had a sense of humor, we’d laugh about it and move on.

The good news is that this nonsense isn’t gaining traction beyond left-wing circles. The media has destroyed its own credibility so thoroughly that nobody outside their bubble takes them seriously. It’s clear they’re flailing, and their attempts to smear anyone even remotely tied to Trump just don’t work anymore. This story will die as quickly as it started, and the rest of us will keep moving forward.
