Judge Merchan Explodes at Trump Witness During Trial: ‘Clear the Courtroom!’
New York Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing former President Donald Trump’s business records trial, exploded at a witness over his behavior on Monday and called for the courtroom to be cleared.
Robert Costello, the former lawyer for Michael Cohen, was called to the witness stand by Trump’s defense team and repeatedly became frustrated due to Merchan sustaining several objections from prosecutors, according to Newsweek.
After Merchan had sustained several objections — including instances where the defense only got out the words “What do you recall about” and “What did you mean by” — Costello reportedly was reprimanded, to which he exclaimed, “ridiculous” and “jeez,” under his breath.
Costello reportedly began blowing “raspberries” after several more objections were sustained, according to the outlet.
Prior to Merchan calling for the courtroom to be cleared, he reportedly instructed Costello that he should not say “jeez” in the courtroom or call for it to be struck.
“You don’t say ‘jeez,’ and you don’t say ‘strike it,’ because I’m the only one who can strike … you don’t roll your eyes, do you understand that?”
Merchan asked. “Do you understand that? Are you staring me down right now. Clear the courtroom please!”
Newsweek reported that after the courtroom had been cleared, Merchan took the time to “discuss proper decorum”:
“Mr. Costello … I’d like to discuss proper decorum in my courtroom. As a witnness on the stand, if you don’t like my ruling, you don’t say ‘jeez!’ and then you don’t say, ‘strike it’ because I’m the only one who can strike testimony in the court. If you don’t like my ruling, you don’t give my side eye or roll your eyes,” Merchan warned the witness.
On May 15, Costello testified before the House Weaponization Committee that Cohen had lied under oath and claimed that Cohen had paid adult entertainment star Stormy Daniels payments that Trump was not involved in.

Costello said in a written testimony that he advised Cohen to share any “truthful information that would implicate Donald Trump,” so that he could help get him out of “his legal troubles.”

My thoughts: Blanche has to drill into the skulls of the jurors what crime, precisely, is being prosecuted here.
He should rigorously spell out the elements of the alleged crime, and remind jurors that each element must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, the highest evidentiary standard in criminal law.
Without those elements, there can be no crime.
So far, we are getting tangled in the weeds of a systematic and sensationalistic smear campaign involving Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen. But that has nothing to do with anything, as far as the law is concerned.
This is allegedly an FEC violation, but we’re in state court. Why is that? That’s a foundational, threshold question.
So far, unbelievably, no crime whatsoever has been articulated by the prosecution. Nobody knows what the felony is being prosecuted here, let alone the elements of said felony.
In order to have a criminal trial, you need to define a crime. This may be the first trial in history where no crime has been articulated.

This explains in part why the North Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Sea are warming up so quickly. The sharp increase in radiation heats up the atmosphere, seas and oceans. Past a certain point, horses, humans, chickens, trees, fish, etc. get too heat stressed and die.
Climate chaos is coming. The scientists at the Arctic News blog are prognosticating that the global furnace could turn on as soon as the 2025-2026 time period, in other words, maybe only a year or two from now.
As things further heat up, 50 gigatons or more of frozen methane in the world’s seafloors and permafrost regions will sublimate to the atmosphere. That massive quantity of methane in the atmosphere will dramatically heat the Earth up, in as little as weeks. It will radically change the chemistry of the atmosphere, with very little time lag. It will have a massive, global impact on the ambient temperature regime.
Look at the curve at timestamp 0:50 to 1:14. It graphically shows why the global environment is just about to change so much, so rapidly. We are now at the point on the curve where the strength of the magnetic field has started to plunge precipitously, year on year, all the way to zero in about the year 2040.
This curve tracks very closely to the global temperature increase calculated for the coming years by the scientists at the Arctic News blog.
Deadly global climate change is coming, though not for the reasons that the public are being told. The real causes are being concealed, not being mentioned at all in the mainstream, legacy news media, and totally ignored in public, political discourse.
Frankly, the natural phenomena now in global motion could well spell the demise of hundreds of millions or even billions of people.
It is much the fashion these days, in certain, mind-numbingly stupid political and social circles, to pooh-pooh the vertiginously approaching Earth changes that will very soon be hard upon us.

The life of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who has survived an assassination attempt, is out of danger, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Environment Minister Tomas Taraba said.
He told the BBC that the surgery was successful and the prime minister is not in a critical condition.
Fico was wounded in a shooting incident that happened after a government meeting in the city of Handlova in the western part of Slovakia. He was hospitalized in a serious condition, with wounds in a limb, the chest and abdomen. The shooter was detained. According to the Slovak mass media, he is a 71-year-old writer Juraj Cintula, who carried out the assassination attempt on Fico over disagreed with the government’s policy.
Fico adheres to a principled position on Ukraine, advocating an immediate ceasefire and peace talks. His government, which took office in October 2023, has halted military supplies to Kiev, but provides humanitarian assistance. The prime minister speaks out for normalizing relations with Russia.

UPDATE: During Dominion v Byrne trial today, Dominion lawyers sought to remove @AttyStefLambert from @PatrickByrne legal defense team for releasing evidence of criminal activity to law enforcement. U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya directed the defense team to refrain from releasing any discovery documents to law enforcement without court approval going forward. At this time, there has been no official decision by the Judge regarding removal of @AttyStefLambert from case. During the hearing, Dominion lawyers shared a clip of me on @FrankSpeech sharing the information that was released to law enforcement. Dominion attempted to assert that I was somehow in violation of the law for doing so. Thankfully, the judge reaffirmed our 1st Amendment right to share information that was in the public domain.
