Them: Our friend owns an Airbnb in Chimney Rock. They had a town meeting yesterday and someone from the federal government told them all of those things in the town meeting, but doesn’t want the information getting out.
Also, they are not picking up the bodies. The stench of the bodies everywhere is insane and for some reason, the government does not want to pick up the bodies. One pastor of a local church was going to order to door delivering water and they changed their delivery request to body bags because so many of the homes that they’ve gone to have needed body bags, we’re trying to keep the body count.

Pepe this storm is unprecedented. News for the radio stations that we are getting is mostly coming from ham operators. It’s apocalyptic. Sinkholes opening up, power lines and trees down everywhere, roads are impassable in places, you have to find goat trails to get around in some cases. Transformers and power lines down on major roads, mudslides, whole towns are gone. Holes opening up everywhere. Hospitals are closed, 911 service is spotty. “…not sure if you have connections to resources or people wanting to help out WNC with the floods but if so, please let me know. My entire family is still living there & now that they have service – I’m getting first hand accounts of how catastrophic it is.
It’s like Katrina level but no major media is reporting the extent because they have been completely cut off from the outside world since Friday when the cell towers went down. People are not needing water – they are asking for shovels and pic axes to search & dig for their loved ones in the rubble.
Entire towns are completely wiped off the map outside of Asheville including parts of hendersonville where my family is. No power, no water and they are on emergency roaming for their cell phones when they can connect.
The few grocery stores that could finally open are operating on cash only and they are all almost bare with no signs of being able to be restocked.
There are over 1000 people reported missing and they can’t even update body counts because they have to remove debris & mudslide remnants so the helicopters can even look for them & pull them out.
Sorry for the long message but, people there are desperate & I know you have the whole MAGA movement behind you and other connections thru the General.
