As Jesus Is Tested (tempted) in the Wilderness…..
“”Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.””
…..so I am tested by the temptations proffered by the deceptive powers that be, those occult principalities that have been exploiting humanity for thousands of years – even moreso in our modern age. We are now motivated by the American Dream – and as I look around me to see how everyone is indulging themselves with the consumer items of their households and with their fantasies of personal adventures commercially manufactured for them – all for a price. Why do I feel obliged to indulge in all these things that others are indulging in and to which others dedicate their lives and posterity? Why should I feel compelled to strive to afford them?
These are modern temptations posing as commercial consumer and worker motivations to in order to buy and possess ‘my’ piece of the American Pie.
It’s the Ego that is the demonic instrument in this sense. One is prompted into craving and then reaching for these ‘advertisements’ (temptations) due to their social conditioning and commercially instigated peer pressures. Similar to any cultivated or habituated addiction we are mentally programmed into a world of manufactured things to be coveted by means of an exploitative system of debt slavery.
One is called to make a personal value judgement.
