A federal judge Monday imposed a partial gag order on President Donald Trump in his criminal election interference case in Washington, D.C.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan barred Trump and other parties in the case from making any public statements targeting special counsel Jack Smith and his staff. She also prohibited statements targeting court staff.

The Judge’s #GAGOrder places the judge and the prosecutor above the law. It is a patently unconstitutional prior restraint on the speech of President Trump, and like the case itself, interferes with and corrupts the 2024 election.

Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee, just imposed a gag order on Donald Trump. He will not be allowed to comment about Special Counsel Jack Smith or his staff, court staff (not sure if that means her) and “potential witnesses” in the case.

She will file full order later today. Chutkan claimed her order was to prevent Trump from launching a “pre trial smear campaign” that poses a “danger to the administration of justice.”

I’m sure Trump will immediately appeal but no high hopes for DC Circuit to reverse.

This means the next few months before trial will be filled with motions and hearings related to allegations by DOJ that Trump violated the order.

A massive contempt trap in addition to the unprecedented silencing of a candidate for president.

Chutkan doesn’t hide her disdain for Trump’s attorneys. She constantly interrupts, points and raises her voice, and makes snarky comments intended to get a laugh at their expense.

Jack Smith trends after judge hits Trump with gag order: ‘Let’s all of us do it!’

Donald Trump was slapped with a gag order on Monday, with a federal judge limiting what the former president can say about special counsel Jack Smith’s efforts to prosecute him for questioning the 2020 presidential election outcome.

The order restricts the leading Republican presidential candidate’s ability to publicly criticize the special counsel and his staff, or potential witnesses.

“This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses. This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said. The Jamaican-born Barack Obama appointee added, “His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their jobs.”

Trump supporter Vernon Jones took to X after the ruling to suggest to his followers that if Trump can’t criticize Smith, they could fill the void.

“It’s a damn shame Special prosecutor Jack Smith bitching about Trump telling the truth about him, goes and complains to the judge and gets a gag order on Trump,” he tweeted. “Since Trump can’t talk about that low down and dirty Jack Smith is, let’s all of us do it!”

“JACK SMITH IS A DIRTY LOW DOWN ABUSIVE AND LYING CROOKED PROSECUTOR,” he added, in all caps.
